SPIRITUAL TRAINING JOURNAL SEEING THE LORD JESUS

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:18

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Seeing the Lord Jesus is essential for our transformation to His image. We shall bear the image of the Lord Jesus in proportion of the vision and revelation of Himself that we have received. The apostle John wrote, “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” (1 John 3:2) A certain brother from the early church had an experience of seeing the Lord Jesus for several days in a row. The following is an excerpt of his experience:

DAY #1: THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves.  You shall trample the wicked,
for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,”
says the Lord of hosts.”
(Malachi 4:2-3)

I receive the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Sun of Righteousness, arising with healing in His wings. His countenance is full of light, like the sun shining in its strength, radiating rays of healing unto me (Revelation 1:16). I shall go out, and grow fat like stall-fed calf, and trample the wicked one. I shall destroy sicknesses, diseases, and infirmities, for they shall be ashes under the soles of my feet.

DAY #2: PERFECT PEACE

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You. (Isaiah 26:3)

I see the Lord Jesus and myself walking on the water together. We walk slowly, talking, and sometimes, we stop and stand on the water as we discuss things. I am so occupied with the Lord that I do not realize that I stand on the water, and even when the storm comes, I do not bother. My eyes are so fixed on the Lord and I feel so peaceful.

DAY #3: OUR BODY AS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

I receive the revelation that the Lord Jesus is the owner of my body. My body is not mine anymore because He has bought it at a price. He dwells in my heart and He lives in me (Ephesians 3:17; Galatians 2:20). He and the Father have come to me and have made their home with me in my body (John 14:23). My body has become a holy temple of God. Therefore, if I defile my body, God will destroy me because it means I defile His holy temple (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

DAY #4: A WILDERNESS BECOMING A FOREST

I see the Lord Jesus standing with me in a wilderness, a dryland. Then, He asks me, “Can this wilderness become a pool of water? And the dry land become springs of water?” (Isa 41:18) I answer, “All things are possible to you, Lord.” Then He says, “When the Spirit is poured out from on high, this wilderness will become a pool of water, the dry land will become springs of water. And this wilderness will become a fruitful field, and the fruitful field will be counted as a forest.” (Isaiah 32:15) The Lord tells me that He is going make this happen through me.

DAY #5: RESTRAINING OUR MOUTH

I see the Lord Jesus crying, covering His face with His hands. I ask Him why He is crying. He replies, “My people are hurting one another with their words. I wish they could restrain their mouths and keep silent.” Then, I remember the words of the scripture, “who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously.” (1 Peter 2:23)

DAY #6: CONSTANTLY SPEAKING JESUS’ WORDS

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. (James 3:2)

I see the Lord Jesus as a captain steering the rudder of the ship and I stand beside Him. Suddenly, I remember the scripture, “Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, but they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.” (James 3:4) Then, I realize that the direction of my life is controlled and turned by my tongue. If I want my life to be controlled and turned by the Lord Jesus, I must constantly speak the words of the Lord Jesus.

DAY #7: THE REFLECTION OF HIS GLORY

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

I see the reflection of the face of the Lord Jesus on the surface of the water. When the water is quiet and still, the reflection is clear. However, when the water is stirred, the reflection is not clear. It is like the sun. I cannot see the sun directly in the sky, but I can see its reflection on the face of the water. The image of the sun is clear only when the water is quiet and still. In the same way, I cannot see the glory of the face of the Lord Jesus directly, but I can see its reflection clearly in my heart when my heart is still and at rest.
