Water baptism is a common practice in the church. Since her birth in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost about two thousand years ago, the church has been baptizing countless people in water. People across different age groups, from infants to elderly people, have received this baptism. There are three methods of water baptism which have been practiced over the centuries: immersion, pouring, and sprinkling.
There are three basic spiritual practices that we must learn to do secretly. Secretly here means not before men to be seen by them. These spiritual practices are doing charitable deeds, praying, and fasting. If we do them to be seen by men, God will not reward us. But if we do them not to be seen by men, God will reward us openly. When God rewards us openly, men will clearly see it.
True spiritual life is not about following certain laws, rules, and regulations strictly, but it is about having a living and dynamic relationship with God. As in every relationship, in this relationship with God communication is very important. The quality of this relationship is determined by the quality of its communication. Strong communication will produce a strong relationship and weak communication will produce a weak relationship.
What is spiritual life? It is relationship with God. In this relationship we grow in our knowledge of God and in our image of God. The objective ofthis growth is Christlikeness. We know God as Christ knowsGod and we have the image of God as Christ has the image ofGod.
There are two ways to recover our bodies from sicknesses or diseases: Man’s way or God’s way. Man’s way is the natural way through medication with or without the help of physicians. God’s way is the supernatural way by His power and through prayer. In the Bible it is written, “And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.” (2 Chr. 16:12) Seeking the Lord for healing and seeking physicians for healing are two different ways. The...
Often in our lives we are in difficult situations that we ourselves cannot overcome. As believers we then pray and cry out to God for help because we know that God hears and answers prayers. We pray and pray and pray, but after some time we become discouraged if we do not see any change in our situations. We wonder why God does not answer our prayers. When we become discouraged, we usually do not pray as fervently as before, or we even give up and donot pray anymore.
Building a spiritual life is like building a house. It starts with the foundation. To build a good and strong house, we must first lay a solid foundation. Likewise, to build a good and strong spiritual life, we must first lay solid spiritual foundations. In one of his Psalms, King David wrote, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psa 11:3)
When this happens, we will feel like dreaming. Nevertheless, our spirit will rejoice, we will be exceedingly glad and our mouth will be filled with holy laughter.
Scriptures: 1 John 4:10-11“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that God loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
