DAY#1: WATER FLOWING FROM THE TEMPLE
Ezekiel the prophet saw a vision of water flowing from under the threshold of the temple (Ezekiel 47:1). The water becomes deeper and deeper as it goes out of the temple until it finally becomes a river that cannot be crossed (Ezekiel 47:5). From the temple, this water goes down into the valley and enters the sea. Wherever the river goes, everything will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish caught and healed (Ezekiel 47:9-10). Along the bank of this river will grow all kinds of trees. Their fruit are used for food and their leaves for medicine (Ezekiel 47:12).
DAY#2: THE RIVER OF REVIVAL
The vision which Ezekiel the prophet saw is a picture of revival. The water represents the Holy Spirit that flows from the temple of God in heaven. As the church moves further in the flow, the depth and the power of the Spirit that will be manifested towards the church and the world increases until it becomes a river of revival. This river of revival will bring great awakening to the people of the church, and also mass conversion and healing to the people of the world. The land will be healed and become fruitful.
DAY#3: THE FOUR CONDITIONS FOR REVIVAL
The water flowing from the temple in Ezekiel’s vision has four different depths, to the ankles, to the knees, to the waist, and a river that cannot be crossed (Ezekiel 47:3-5). These four depths of water correspond to the four conditions that the people of God must fulfill for the revival to happen. God Himself said, “If My people who are called by My name will 1) humble themselves, and 2) pray and 3) seek My face, and 4) turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) When the church meets all the four conditions for revival, then God will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins. And, the flow of water will become a mighty river of revival that will heal the land.
DAY #4: HUMBLING OURSELVES
Humbling ourselves before God is the first condition for revival because revival is a very great grace from God, and God in heaven will only give this grace to the people who humble themselves (James 4:6). One of the hardest things for the church to do is to see independence and pride in themselves because they camouflage themselves in the form of self-righteousness and self-confidence. When we grow rich, have a lot of activities and have our weekly attendance increase, we think we are doing great as the church and have need of nothing. However, when God opens our eyes to see our true state, that we have fallen from what we are supposed to be as the church, only then will we humble ourselves.
DAY #5: ACKNOWLEDGING OUR MISERABLE CONDITION
When we sincerely humble ourselves, we shall acknowledge that we are so wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked (Revelation 3:17). We shall also confess that we are full of independence (self-confidence) and pride (self-righteousness) and ask God earnestly for His great mercy in repentance to deliver us from both. We recognize that we are guiltier for not being revived than sinners for not being converted. When we are truly exposed to God’s brilliant light revealing that without Him we can do nothing, then we will constantly be in His presence, humbling ourselves, praying and fasting (Psalm 35:13).
DAY #6: PRAYING FOR REVIVAL
Having humbled ourselves before God, our hearts will be touched by Him and we will be inspired to pray for the restoration of the church to God’s original purpose and design. We will pray that God will send a mighty revival to His church. Revival is a sovereign act of God, but it is the responsibility of His people to bring it about through their prayers. Thus, if we honestly believe that God wants to transform His church through revival, then we must pray for revival.
DAY #7: PRAYING CONTINUOUSLY AND UNSELFISHLY
How do we pray for revival? Revival praying is not like ordinary praying. Revival praying is waiting on God until the revival breaks forth. It is a continuous prayer (Acts 1:14). We will continue waiting on God, no matter how long it will take until the revival comes. Revival praying is also unselfish. There is no trace of self in it. Even our motive in praying for revival is not because we want something for ourselves. What we want is the will of God be done on earth as it is in heaven. Lastly, revival praying is very passionate. We do not pray from our mind, but from our heart. We pour out all our burdens and express all our emotions inside without reserve.
DAY #8: SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD
The third condition for revival is seeking the face of God. What does it mean to seek His face? It is to know what He feels in His heart towards His people and partake of those feelings. We feel what God feels and cry out to Him in response. God feels grieved and sorrowful seeing His people living selfishly, only thinking about themselves. They make God like a robot whom they can command as they wish. They demand Him to take care of all their problems. All they care about is their own feelings. They don’t want to know what is in His heart, His sorrows and His burdens. They have no time to listen to His will.
DAY #9: FEELING THE EMOTIONS OF GOD
When we feel the emotions of God’s heart, we cannot help it but praying with vehement cries and much tears to Him. We will cry out earnestly for revival because we do not want to see His heart continuously wounded by the selfish attitude and behavior of His people. We will reason with Him that without a revival, the church will never be able to express the fullness of Christ and the world will not believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was sent by God to save them from sin. They will see the God of the church as a weak God who has no answer to their problems. They will see Jesus as a mere good man who has died and His name will not be magnified. People will continue living in sin because the church fails to bring the fear of God to them. God will not be glorified. Seeking the face of God is praying for God to glorify His name in all the earth.
DAY #10: TURNING FROM OUR WICKED WAYS
The last condition that we must fulfill for the revival to come is turning from our wicked ways. After we have humbled ourselves, prayed and sought His face, turning from our wicked ways will make the flow of water from the temple of God in heaven become a river of revival. This is very critical because even though we have met the previous three conditions, revival will not come until we turn from our wicked ways. Turning from our wicked ways means repenting from everything that is not only unlawful but unpleasing to God as well. Revival is a holy encounter with God and it is absolutely necessary that we forsake our sins and set ourselves apart for Him if we expect for God to come and meet us (Exodus 19:10).
DAY #11: SANCTIFYING OURSELVES
God is holy and we must come to a certain degree of holiness before we can actually see Him in His glory. Not only that we must completely renounce our sins, but we must also sanctify ourselves as much as we can. Part of this sanctification is the removal of all things which may distract us from God for a period of time, including lawful things. We may have to reduce or even abstain from food, sleep, sex, hobbies, etc. Many things are lawful, but not all are helpful for us if we expect to have a revival. We must learn not to be brought under the power of these lawful things (1 Corinthians 6:12). The other part of sanctification is the practice of things which may help us to focus on God. It means that we may have to read and meditate the Bible more, pray longer, fasting more frequently, etc.
