Scripture: John 14:3

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Lesson 1:

King David wrote, “The Lord is in His holy temple, The Lord’s throne is in heaven.” (Psalm 11:4) Heaven is the place where God dwells and reigns. He lives in His holy temple and sits on His throne in heaven. Heaven is a kingdom and God is the King of heaven. Heaven is the highest place in the spirit realm and God is Most High (Psalm 57:2). In his vision of heaven, Isaiah saw the Lord God sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple (Isaiah 6:1).

Lesson #2:

The apostle Paul wrote, “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17) The kingdom of heaven is the kingdom of God. It is a kingdom where God rules and reigns. Because God is righteous, He rules and reigns over His kingdom in righteousness. King David wrote, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne.” (Psalm 89:14) The Lord Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” (Matthew 6:33) Righteousness is the foundation of God’s throne in heaven, therefore, heaven is full of the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit.

Lesson #3:

Life in heaven reflects the nature of God. God is the righteous King of heaven, therefore, everything in heaven is according to God’s righteousness. In righteousness is peace and joy. As all the hosts of heaven submit to God’s righteous reign, they experience peace and joy. Heaven is a perfect resting place and rest in heaven is full of peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Heaven is also a perfect working place and work in heaven is done with full of unspeakable joy (1 Peter 1:8)

Lesson #4:

Heaven is the place for man to dwell together with God, just as the garden of Eden was made by God for man to dwell together with Him. It is written, “The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.” (Genesis 2:8) Fellowship with God in heaven is experienced in perfect rest. Heaven is also the place for man to work together with God, just like the garden of Eden was made by God for man to work together with Him. It is written, “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the USgarden of Eden to tend and keep it. Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.” (Genesis 2:15,19) Partnership with God in heaven is done with great joy.

Lesson #5:

The garden of Eden where God put the first man is actually the reflection of heaven on earth, because He made it according to His own garden in heaven (Ezekiel 28:13). It is written about the garden of Eden on earth, “Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads. The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there. The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush. The name of the third river is Hiddekel; it is the one which goes toward the east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.” (Genesis 2:10-14) A river that went out of Eden to water the garden is the reflection of the river of life in heaven (Revelation 22:1). Gold, bdellium and the onyx in the land of Havilah are the reflections of gold and precious stones in heaven.

Lesson #6:

In the book of Hebrews it is written, "But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel." (Hebrews 12:22-24) The writer describes some of the things in heaven after the Lord Jesus ascended to the right hand of God and the Holy Spirit was poured out from heaven on the day of Pentecost. In heaven, there is a Mount called Zion where the city of the living God is, the heavenly Jerusalem. In this city there are innumerable company of angels. Inside the city there is a group of heavenly beings and elders appointed by God to rule His kingdom together with Him called the general assembly. There are also the church of the firstborn and the spirits of just men of the old covenant made perfect. At the right hand of God, the Lord Jesus sits as the Mediator of the new covenant with His blood sprinkled.

Lesson #7:

How can we enter the kingdom God in heaven? The Lord Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3) and, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3,5) We can only enter and see the kingdom of God in heaven by being born again, that is, born of water and the Spirit. To be born again we must be converted and become as little children. It means we must repent from our sins and no longer rely on our righteousness but put our faith in God who through Christ has taken away our sins and has given us eternal life. We who have believed in the Lord Jesus have eternal life and our names are written in heaven (1 John 5:13, Luke 10:20).
